Our Web Design Process | Sarah Lynn Design

our process

1 - initial project discussion + evaluation

Once we make initial contact with you, we will email you a design questionnaire asking you a few questions about your project. It will help us gauge the scope of the project and give you an accurate project quote.

2 - project proposal + acceptance

Once we review the details of your project we will send you a project proposal. This will include each piece involved in completing the project, the estimated costs and suggestions for a more successful outcome based on our discussions with you. We also include a high-level timeline as well, laying out each phase of the project if applicable so both parties can stay on track. Once the proposal is fine-tuned to meet your needs, we begin work on your project!

3 - project management + schedule

To keep both teams involved and communication lines open, we utilize an online project manager. Your project leader will setup each task involved in completing your project as well as each deadline associated with it. You will have the ability to make comments on design comps/mock-ups, upload documents, view time spent on each portion of the project as well as view open invoices and financials to make sure the project is staying within your budget. We have found this to be an efficient method of team communication and organization for both parties involved.

4 - design process

The design process starts with brainstorming sessions and sketching. The best ideas come from an open mind and industry research. With a need to be creative and stay competitive it is imperative that we see what your competitors are doing and do it better. Once those initial ideas are tossed around, we begin your design mock-ups. From this point forward the project requires effort from you as well to review the creative and give your feedback. The best designs arise from successful group collaboration. So be prepared to allot some time to work with us. You know your business more than anyone and we need to make sure your design reflects your business in its' truest form.

Once the designs are approved by your team, development and/or file delivery is the next step depending on what your project happens to be.

5 - web development

If we are building an entire website or setting up a email campaign for you, development will be the next step. A content management system is essential for an interactive website and is generally discussed during the project proposal. Development steps vary depending on your platform of choice. We work with a few different open source platforms to help you manage your website once it leaves our hands.

6 - testing

Upon completion of your site’s development, we will test to make sure everything is functioning as it should across all major browsers. We will walk through the site with you in a development environment. Once you review each piece of the site, we’ll get your final approval and confirm a launch date.

7 - project completion

It’s launch day! Once your site is launched, we will then proceed to do one more round of testing. If you are using a Content Management System (CMS) we will train you on the ins and outs of keeping your site updated and running smoothly. Or if you’d like us to handle your website maintenance and creative updates, ask us about our Creative Bundles. It’s a great way to allow you to focus on what you do best. Leave the design and maintenance to us!

8 - follow-up

You can expect a follow-up once your site is launched to make sure everything is going as expected. We are available for questions or concerns anytime before or after a project is completed. Our dedication to your business’ success will always remain our top priority!
